    Dolcetto

    $36.00$38.00

    Categories: , .

Mosby Dolcetto is produced from carefully tended estate-grown grapes, creating a full-bodied wine that can be enjoyed with everyday meals. The Mosby Dolcetto has brilliant aromatics of brown spice, herbs and white pepper. Mouth-filling flavors of yellow-fleshed plum and cola lead to the honest, lingering finish. We like to serve our Dolcetto with interesting cheeses, hearty pastas, grilled meats or pizza.

    $36.00$38.00

The Lagrein grape is named after the Lagarina Valley of Trentino, although it is now primarily grown at Gries on the outskirts of Bolzano.
An extremely rare grape in the United States, we know of only a handful of vineyards in California. Bill was able to procure these grapes from the French Camp Vineyard.
This velvety violet colored wine offers aromas of dark plums, cocoa and wild wood mint. The rich mouth feel and flavor of ripe black currants finish with soft tannins.
Enjoy this wine with rich red meat or mushroom-based dishes, such as roasted prime rib, Porcini risotto or stroganoff.

Bill traveled to Italy and worked in conjunction with grape growers there to produce this wine. The grapes are from a vineyard located in the rolling hills of Marche, Italy, and totally pampered by agronomist Dr. Marco Cavalieri. Swept and cooled by breezes off the Adriatic Sea, this area is renowned for its intensely flavored Montepulciano grapes.  The intense nose on this vintage displays spice and earth with a trace of cooking chocolate. Purple violets, black licorice and clove lifesavers all come to mind. The brisk acidity and rounded tannins make it possible to cellar this wine for two or three years before popping the cork, but it’s very drinkable now, particularly when paired with a selection of Italian cured meats, Bolognese sauce over pasta or a hearty stew.

    We currently have  2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 vintages available.

  • Sagrantino

    $42.00

    Categories: , .

The Sagrantino vine is indigenous to the Umbrian region of Italy, particularly around the hill top town of Montefalco.   The 2014 Mosby Sagrantino is estate-grown, a dark garnet-red in the glass, with  aromatics of vanilla, elderberries and brambles. The rich, concentrated flavors are big and beefy, with root and tobacco notes, and the pronounced mouth feel is supported by firm tannins.  Naturally, a candidate for red meats,  pork or pungent cheeses. Fun facts: Pliny the Elder and Saint Francis of Assisi drank Sagrantino, and it is reported to have the highest concentration of anti-oxidants of any red wine. (So it’s good for you!)

    Sangiovese

    $36.00$38.00

    Categories: , .

The Mosby Sangiovese has a lot going on! We detected amazing scents of cocoa, dried cherries, lavender and lilac; these delightful aromas progressed into layered flavors of crushed dark berries, spice and light oak. The full body of this release is nicely balanced by brisk acidity and smooth tannins, making it an ideal wine for food pairing. Our suggestions include beef or game ragus, tomato-based pasta sauces or spicy Tuscan-style chicken. This wine is ready to drink now, but will cellar well for three to five years.

  • Teroldego

    $36.00

    Categories: , .

The Mosby Teroldego is a noble wine that introduces itself through a nose of almonds and flowers. The lush flavors of ripe raspberry and brown spice are followed by a smooth, lingering finish. Teroldego pairs especially well with beef, lamb, or game. Try a bottle with a grilled steak or butterflied leg of lamb. Served with family and friends, this wine turns a meal into a celebration.
The Rotaliano plain of northeastern Italy’s Trentino-Alto Adige region has been growing and producing Teroldego grapes for over 500 years. Mosby Winery is one of the few growers and producers of Teroldego in California.
