The
2005
Mosby Ossessione is
our first true Italian import. Bill traveled to Italy and worked
in conjunction with grape growers there to produce this wine. The grapes are
from a pampered vineyard located in the rolling hills of the Marche, Italy.
Swept and cooled by breezes off the Adriatic Sea, this area is renowned for
its intensely-flavored Montepulciano grapes. These are the
true varietal grapes of Montepulciano, not the Montepulciano Nobile grapes,
which are actually Sangiovese. The Montepulciano varietal wine most commonly
sold in this country is the Montepulciano D'Abruzzo.
True to its heritage, the 2005 Mosby Ossessione has brilliant ruby color
and an intoxicating nose with perfume-like notes of woodsy sandalwood, brown
spice and maple. Flavors, of dried red currant and spice finish with medium
tannins and a hint of vanilla. The wine is ready to drink now, and would
paor very well with roasted meat dishes or a selection of Italian cured
meats served in the antipasti style.
